Scholarships & Bursaries

Warrane College offers a number of scholarships to first-year residents. Scholarships are awarded by way of crediting College fees.

         Applicants must apply for accommodation directly to the college.

         Applications are open to first-year residents of Warrane College who are full-time students.

         Applications are open to all students, regardless of age or citizenship.

Applications must include:

  • 1. A personal statement including full contact details.
  • 2. A statement addressing the specific selection criteria.
  • 3. A statement outlining ways in which the applicant would be able to make a significant contribution to collegial life at Warrane College and UNSW at large.
  • 4. Details of a referee.

Academic Achievement

Specific selection criteria:

  • 1. Achieved the highest ATAR (or equivalent) at their high school, or obtained an ATAR (or equivalent) of at least 99.00

Scholarship value: $5,000

Cultural Achievement

Specific selection criteria (may include, but not limited to):

  • 1. Attainment of a high grade (AMEB or equivalent) in one or more musical instruments.
  • 2. Demonstrated performance experience in music, drama or other arts.
  • 3. Evidence of potential for leadership in cultural events.

Scholarships available: One

Scholarship value: $5,000

Sporting Achievement

Specific selection criteria:

  • 1. Representation in a sport at a high level.
  • 2. Be permitted to and willing to take part in the College’s sporting competitions.
  • 3. Evidence of potential for leadership in sport.

Scholarships available: One

Scholarship value: $5,000

Community Service

Specific selection criteria:

  • 1. Evidence of extensive community service involvement.
  • 2. Ability to take part in the College’s community service initiatives.
  • 3. Evidence of potential for leadership in community service.

Scholarships available: Two

Scholarship value: $5,000

Rural Engineering Scholarships

Specific selection criteria:

  • 1. Only students already holding a scholarship within the Faculty of Engineering Rural Scholarships Program are eligible to apply. Information on Rural Engineering Scholarships is available on the website of the UNSW Faculty of Engineering or the UNSW Co-Op Program.

Scholarships available: Two

Scholarship value: $2,000

Rural Scholarships

Specific selection criteria:

  • 1. Applicants must be from a rural area; specifically, the family home must have been located in a rural area (anywhere in Australia) for at least four of the applicant’s high school years.

Scholarships available: Three

Scholarship value: $2,000

Bursaries

In addition to scholarships, some financial assistance is available to residents in the form of bursaries, covering a portion of College fees. These bursaries are intended to assist students whose financial situation may inhibit them from living in College. Applications for bursaries include a disclosure of present income. Only current residents are eligible to apply for bursaries.
