Gaudeamus Ingeniatores

Paul Mcfarlane BE (Civil) MEngSc (Structural)

A graduation is always cause for celebration and at Warrane we especially like to recognise this achievement.

On Tuesday 6 March 2012 two Old Boys dropped in to the College on their graduation day.

Paul McFarlane (2004-2005) now works for at the RTA Headquarters in Parramatta. He graduated with a Masters of Engineering Science. Paul married Katherine last year and the couple along with Paul’s parents and sister came for the occasion.

“Coming to Warrane is like coming home” said Paul’s mother, Mary. Everyone agreed with the sentiment.

Chalana Hewage (2008-2012) has completed his Civil Engineering degree and is currently working for John Holland as a Graduate Engineer on the Glenfield to Leppington Rail Line project. Chalana was a residential tutor at the College in his final year.

“College just gets better every year” Chalana said, when asked about his 4 years at Warrane. He denied that he gets emotional every time he drives past on Anzac Parade.

The College Dean, Mr Arthur Escamilla, said that celebrating graduations was an important way to recognize the contributions of past residents to the College and to emphasize the fact that the Warrane experience continues on into professional life.

“We have an active Old Boys network and we like to see Old Boys coming back to the College as they progress through their lives,” he said.

If you are a graduating Old Boy and would like to celebrate with your family at the College on the day, please contact Mr. Alex Perrottet at info@warrane.unsw.edu.au.
