What does Warrane offer?

Warrane College offers accommodation to students at UNSW. Warrane is a residential college affiliated with UNSW Sydney.

Are academic tutors available?

High achieving residents provide weekly/fortnightly tutorials for a range of subjects across a lot of degrees. Their services include detailed explanations as well as exam hints and help.

Can I make my own meals?

Meals are fully catered for at College, so there is no need to cook your own meals.

What is the meal system?

We provide 3 meals a day, 7 days a week. In the event you will miss a meal there is a system in place to ensure you can have it earlier/later as needed. We also facilitate diets for medical or religious reasons.

What is the curfew?

As a detail of courtesy towards the tutor on duty, residents are asked to be back by 12.00am between Sunday and Wednesday; the time to be back between Thursday and Saturday is 2.00am. We have common sense: if you have a good reason to be back later, that can be arranged.

Can I stay during breaks/summer?

You may stay over the breaks if you wish. In the event you do not wish to do so but intend on coming back then you are able to store your belongings in your assigned locker.

What are the references required?

You need two references. The first one is a character reference, which is written by someone who knows you rather well (outside of your family) and comments on your general traits and personality. The second is an academic reference, which should be written by a teacher or professor. This reference should highlight some of your academic highlights and comment on your suitability to study at a tertiary level.

Do I need to come in for an interview?

Applying for accommodation at Warrane College UNSW involves doing an interview with a staff member of the College.

The purpose of the interview is twofold, to give the applicant an opportunity to briefly experience the environment of the College and for us to assess the applicant’s suitability for residence. Interviewing staff consider the applicant’s academic performance, willingness to participate in collegial life and openness to the aims and ethos of the College.

In some circumstances the College may be able to arrange an interview with its representatives in other Australian cities or overseas. If there are no other practical alternatives, online interviews can be conducted.

When will I find out if I am being offered a place?

All applicants are given the chance to come in for an interview. You will be notified within a few days, usually, as to the status of your application.

What if I do not get an offer to UNSW?

If you have accepted a place at Warrane and do not receive an offer for UNSW you will be given a full refund if you choose to go to another university.

How do I apply?

The easiest way to apply to Warrane College is to fill out an online application form. Once the form has been received you will receive an email detailing instructions for your interview.

Do I need to pay extra to use the laundry?

What is floor cleaning?

Where can I store my bicycle?
