Keen to know why Warrane residents, Patrick and David Tighe, seem to be made of good stuff? We’re guessing there must be something in the water of their hometown of Coonabarabran. Or perhaps there’s something in the stars, because this country town, 500 kilometres north-west of NSW, happens to be the astronomy capital of Australia.

Do you think that personal faith should play a part in politics? It’s the kind of discussion you’d probably avoid at a friendly dinner party, but it was exactly what Bay Warburton spoke about to the Warrane boys on Wednesday 5 October 2016. And he should know all about it, considering that he’s a practicing Christian as well as Chief of Staff for NSW Premier, Mike Baird.

Hailing from Devonport in Tasmania, Ryan Powell’s only travel thus far has taken him to the Australian mainland. But Sydney is glad to have him, and has shown it by awarding him with both a UNSW scholarship and one of Warrane College’s rural scholarships.

When chatting to two Warrane old boys about their time at the college, Watson brothers Andy and James definitely had one thing in common – their favourite memories were sport-related (hello, rugby grand final wins, and beating New College for the Sports Shield!). And really, who can blame them?
