Professor Les Field, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UNSW

Professor Les Field AM FAA is the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UNSW. Before holding this position, he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at UNSW 2005-2016, and worked in academia at USYD prior to this.
Professor Field is a distinguished chemist whose main areas of research are organometallic chemistry, catalysis and Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy. He is a director of a number of companies including the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute Pty Ltd; UNSW Innovations Pty Ltd and Australian Technology Park Innovations Pty Ltd. He has served as a member of the Council of the Australian Academy of Science since 2004.
Professor Field has received many honours including the Organic Chemistry Medal of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute in 1994, and being elected as a Fellow of the Australia Academy of Science in 1996. He has also written over 200 scientific papers as well as four text books. He was appointed as Member of the Order of Australia in 2011 for his services to Chemistry and to Higher Education.
